In this episode we’ll take a deep dive together on a specific business case with a leader who successfully climbed the corporate ladder using feedback as a competitive career advantage. You’ll hear how our guest, Mark Rogers, gathered feedback the right way and applied a daily helping of humility to accelerate his learning curve and propel his career trajectory.
In fact, his pathway was anything but ordinary. Rather than following the blueprint of getting an MBA right out of college, he followed in the footsteps of his fathers’ long and lucrative 40-year career at IBM. Mark plunged himself into the fast-moving sales division of the tech giant and, to this day, credits much of his success to the feedback he received along the way.
For Mark, the willingness to regularly seek out feedback about what isn’t working correctly is essential. While not always an easy task, anyone with ambition must have the courage to embrace the discomfort of receiving potentially painful feedback, internalizing it and charting a new course of action based on the input. For him, that meant staying hungry to learn from anyone willing to teach.
But how exactly did he do it and what can we apply to our own career today? You’re about to find out. Listen in.
